Privacy Policy

Effective: April 11, 2026

Printing Dynamics ("we," "our," or "us") operates as a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects designers with local 3D printer owners. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our platform at printingdynamics.com. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, username, email address, password (stored as a salted hash — never in plain text), account type (Designer or Printer), and optionally your city, state, and zip code.

Location data: If you provide a zip code, we geocode it to a general latitude/longitude coordinate so your pin appears on our printer map. We do not store your street address on the map — only your city-level location is publicly visible.

Print request data: We store the details of print requests you submit or accept, including STL files you upload, color preferences, material choices, and job status history.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details. We receive and store only transaction identifiers, amounts, and payout status from Stripe.

Communications: We may retain emails sent through our platform (job notifications, status updates, dispute messages) to support dispute resolution and platform safety.

Usage data: We may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps to maintain platform security and diagnose issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Match designers with available printers based on location and capabilities
  • Process and track print job requests through our platform
  • Facilitate Stripe payments and payouts between parties
  • Send transactional emails (job assigned, shipped, approved, disputed)
  • Enforce our Terms of Service, including the strike system
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Improve our platform and resolve technical issues

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

3. Marketplace Intermediary Role

Printing Dynamics is a marketplace intermediary. We connect designers and printer owners but are not a party to the print contract between them. Accordingly:

  • Printers and designers transact directly through our platform under our escrow system.
  • We share necessary contact and job information between the parties to facilitate fulfillment (e.g., shipping address provided to the printer upon job acceptance).
  • We do not share your information with third parties beyond what is required to operate the platform.

4. Information Shared With Third Parties

We work with the following trusted service providers who may process your data on our behalf:

  • Stripe — payment processing and printer payouts. Subject to Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • UploadThing — STL file storage and delivery.
  • Email provider — transactional email delivery (job notifications, account alerts).
  • Hosting infrastructure — our platform runs on servers that may be located in the United States.

We require all service providers to maintain appropriate security standards and use your data only as directed by us.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud prevention purposes (e.g., records of completed financial transactions).

Print request records may be retained for up to 3 years for dispute resolution and tax compliance purposes.

6. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls on our database. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Object to certain processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address listed below. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Printing Dynamics is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account on our platform, please contact us and we will promptly delete the account.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
